Defensive Driver Training - March 3rd
The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that State employees (including student employees) complete Defensive Driver Training every four years in order to drive a State, rental, or privately-owned vehicle on State business. In an effort to meet the needs of the Campus, the Vehicle Reservations Office is offering Defensive Driver Training each week.
Employees can confirm the date of their last training by inquiring at vehicles@csuchico.edu. Responses will typically be by return e-mail on the next business day.
Please have your California Driver License number and expiration date, and CSU, Chico employee/student ID number available at the time of the class.
Location and time varies by session. To view the availability of sessions, location, and to register, log in to the Web Based Training (WBT) system click on the Course Catalog menu — the workshops are posted under the EH&S tab. If you need assistance logging into the WBT system, please contact EH&S.

Change in Suburban Availability
At the end of the Spring 2009 Semester, the Vehicle Reservation Office will no longer offer the two suburbans for use by the Campus. The Campus can utilize the contract with Enterprise Rent-a-Car to meet their suburban needs. Enterprise has the ability to offer suburbans with four wheel drive and the ability to tow. Enterprise recommends that the renting party call a minimum of 48-hours in advance, to ensure availability.
If you have any questions, please call the Vehicle Reservations Office at 6117.

Ellen Deering Endowment Fund, Call for Proposals for 2009/2010
In the late 1970’s, Ellen Deering established an endowment as a memorial to the C.E. Deering family. Her intent was to support research projects about the history of Northeastern California and the history of CSU, Chico, particularly the development and organization of the University Archives. Mrs. Deering required that copies of all projects funded from the Endowment be deposited in Meriam Library Special Collections.
Proposals for the 2009/10 competition should be sent to Carolyn Dusenbury/Deering Endowment Project Director/Meriam Library/CSU, Chico/Chico, CA 95929-0295. Applications must be received by or postmarked on May 1, 2009.
Proposals are reviewed by the Ellen Deering Committee. Successful applicants will be notified by June 15, 2009.
For Deering Endowment Fund information and guidelines, please contact Carolyn Dusenbury.

Dept. of Theatre to Stage "In The Blood," March 4-8
Wed., March 4 - Sat., March 7 at 7:30pm
Sun., March 8 at 2pm
Harlen Adams Theatre
Written by Suzan-Lori Parks
Directed by William J. Johnson
Hester La Negrita lives with her five kids under a bridge. Fathered by five different men, they are the joy of Hester’s life and she does whatever is necessary to hold them together as a family and “get a leg up.” Five adult actors double as Hester’s children and the people who try — or claim — to help her: her social worker, her doctor, her best friend, her minister and, finally, her ex-boyfriend and love of her life. Poetic, ironically funny, and deeply moving, this play weaves the threads of Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter with the reality of life in today’s inner city to reveal a particular image of American Puritanism that is truly “in our blood.”
Tickets available at the University Box Office, x6333
More information is available at the Web site.
