Memorial Contributions for Richard Ek

Emeritus professor Richard Ek, who passed away May 12, requested no public memorial services will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. Private interment will take place at the Chico Memorial Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Ek Scholarship Fund at CSU, Chico, to the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library, or to a favorite charity in care of Newton-Bracewell. Summer Delivery Schedule & Summer Hours - University Printing Services

Beginning on Tues., May 26, University Printing Services/Copy Center will deliver and pick up orders once a day between 8:30am and 11am, Monday to Thursday. We will be open during summer hours from 7am to 5:30pm, Monday to Thursday. As always, we look forward to meeting your print and copy needs.

Graduation Fees to Change

Effective June 1, 2009 the graduation application fee (undergraduate and graduate) will be increased to $48.00.

The fee to refile for graduation will continue to be $8.00; the late application fee will continue to be $10.00.

CSU, Chico Retired Staff-Opportunity for Lunch and Visiting

The Annual CSU, Chico Retired Staff Luncheon will be held on Friday, June 12, from 11:30am - 2pm at Canyon Oaks Country Club. A buffet has been planned by recent retirees. This is a social event with no planned program — a time to connect and visit with friends and co-workers. The cost of $18 includes the Hawaiian themed buffet, drinks, dessert, tax, and tip. Reservation deadline is Friday, June 5; payment will confirm your reservation. If you have recently retired or will very soon, please contact the Staff Council office, x6156, or Sharon (Schacht) Salcido, 893-0181, for information about this luncheon. We hope to see you there.

Summer at the MOA

Time to make summer camp decisions for your children? The CSU, Chico Museum of Anthropology has six weeks of programs for elementary age children -ages 5-11. This year the MOA is also introducing a teen program for ages 12-15.

Museum Afield is a new program that gets kids out and exploring their local environment using scientific, anthropological, historical, and cultural research techniques. The two-week sessions culminates in a temporary class museum exhibit utilizing what students have collected and discovered.

Summer Parking Decal Sales

Parking decals for the summer 2009 term go on sale today, Wed., May 20 in the Cashiering Office, Student Services Center, Room 230.

Summer permits are $52.00 for a general (G) student permit, $48.00 for a general (G) faculty/staff permit, and $12.00 for a motorcycle (M) permit.

CALENDAR YEAR PERMITS (gray with white permit indicator box) F/S, R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 decals are valid throughout the summer months. Holders of these permits DO NOT need to contact Cashiering to keep their permits in effect.

ACADEMIC YEAR PERMITS (white with yellow permit indicator box) F/S, R, R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 decals are NOT valid during the summer months, specifically June 1, through August 16, 2009. You may resume using these permits on August 17, 2009.

Honors in General Education Presentations, May 22

Starting at 2pm on Friday, May 22, at The Embassy, Konkow Hall, the following Honors in General Education students will give a public presentation of their theses. The campus is invited.

Presentations will begin at the times listed with the names of the presenters. The door will be opened between presentations in order to allow exit and entry to not disturb the presenters.

Honors students can choose to complete their Honors Theme H by taking HNRS 399H: Honors in GE Thesis. Working with a faculty member, students use skills in research and writing to further investigate an intriguing topic from their other upper division theme classes, possibly incorporating their major.
