Student Volunteers Poised to Set New Records, Top $1 Million for St. Jude Children’s Hospital

California State University, Chico’s Acker Gym will be bursting with students Monday, Nov. 9, as money is raised for children’s cancer research at Up ‘til Dawn, the biggest single night of volunteer service on campus.

The event raises money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year more than 2,300 students and other campus community members filled the gym writing letters to friends and family requesting donations for the famed children’s hospital, located in Memphis, Tenn.

For four years running, CSU, Chico has been the top collegiate fund-raiser for St. Jude, and is set this year to be the first campus to go over $1 million in fund raising.

Or we can provide you with letters to distribute to your classes. They can also stop by BMU 203 anytime M-F, 9am - 5pm and sign a letter. We will take care of the rest.

Writing Tutor Appointment Policies

The following guidelines for working with a writing tutor in the Student Learning Center are designed to help clarify expectations and help you maximize your tutoring experience.

1. Make an appointment before the day the paper is due. Last minute tutoring appointments do not provide adequate time to get the most from a session.
2. Writing tutors do not edit papers; instead they provide tools to help you self-correct your papers and reduce dependence on tutors.
3. Review your paper for errors before your writing appointment to make the best use of your time with a tutor.

To schedule an appointment with a writing tutor, come to the Student Learning Center Monday - Thursday 9am - 4:30pm or Friday 9am - 2:30pm. If you are not able to make an appointment in advance, there is limited drop-in writing assistance available Monday - Thursday 2pm - 5pm and Friday 9am - 2pm. If you have questions, please contact the Student Learning Center at 898-6839.
