Diversion Excursion - Call for Volunteers
The 9th annual Diversion Excursion event is happening Thurs., May 22 and Friday, May 23, the last two days of finals week.
The purpose of this event is to divert reusable and recyclable materials from the landfill and donate everything to local charities, while educating students on waste diversion. Last year we diverted over 17,000 pounds from going to the landfill.
The program is designed to collect donations as university residents move out. Ten collection stations staffed with volunteers are set up at the on-campus halls: Shasta, Lassen, Whitney (2), Esken, and Mechoopda; and four tables at University Village.
We need 20 more volunteers to work a 2-hour shift and staff the tables to engage and assist the residents as they donate items. Volunteers are provided with a free t-shirt and snacks.
There will be an informative volunteer meeting with pizza on May 13 from 5pm - 6pm in BMU 209 or May 14 from 12pm - 1pm in BMU 312.
Be a part of this exciting opportunity to volunteer! Bring your friends! Visit the AS Recycling office in BMU 301 or call 898-5033 to sign up.
