Internships Available at The Orion
Graphic design/art, writing, copy editing, photo/multimedia/video internships.
The university’s award-winning newspaper, The Orion, is looking for excited and talented new staff. Internships are 2-3 units, depending on your major, and include the following positions:
Graphic design/art: Illustrators and page/layout designers
Writing: staff reporters for features, opinion, sports, online and possibly broadcasters for video
Copy editing: section copy editors and online editors needed
Photo/multimedia/video: Photographers, web designers and videographers

Storyteller Tomaseen Foley Comes to Laxson, Dec. 17
Chico Performances invites you to celebrate the holiday season with Irish storytelling and music with Tomaseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas, coming to Laxson Auditorium on Wed., Dec. 17, 2008 at 7:30pm.
Come celebrate the season with an evening in an Irish farmhouse where neighbors have gathered to share their traditional stories, joyous music, and exuberant dances. Tomaseen Foley and his band of Irish musicians and dancers make the rafters ring with music of the fiddle, bodhran, tin whistle, and uilleann pipes, tell stories around a roaring fire; and make merry with jigs, reels, and high-stepping energy.
Tickets cost: $25 Premium, $20 Adult, $18 Senior, and $16 Student/Child.

Michael Tilson Thomas to Direct the San Francisco Symphony, Jan. 22
Come join Chico Performances as they bring the world famous San Francisco Symphony Orchestra with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas to Laxson Auditorium, on Jan. 22, 2008 at 7:30pm.
Universally recognized as a world-class symphony orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony has won acclaim and praise since its inception in 1911. Under the baton of maestro Michael Tilson Thomas since 1995, they will be performing Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Opus, 64; Haydn’s Symphony No. 60 in C major - Il distratto; and M. Tilson Thomas’ own Street Song for Symphonic Bass.

If You Loved Cirque Mechanics, You'll Love Peking Acrobats - Coming back to Laxson, Jan. 20
Every January the Peking Acrobats come to Laxson Auditorium, and every January the Peking Acrobats amaze audience members with their incredible skill. Join Chico Performances as they welcome back the Peking Acrobats, a high-energy performance of Chinese acrobatics and music on Jan. 20, 2008 at 7:30pm in Laxson Auditorium.
Pushing the envelope of what’s humanly possible, this troupe of more than 20 gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists, and tumblers fill the stage with amazing feats that defy gravity. Accompanied by live musicians skillfully performing on traditional instruments and multi-media special effects, this performance is a sell-out year after year.

Enjoy the Holidays with Chico Community Ballet's The Nutcracker in December
Friends of Chico Community Ballet and Chico Performances invite you to come enjoy this year’s performance of the classical ballet, the Nutcracker on Dec. 11, 12 & 13 at 7:30pm and Dec. 13 & 14 at 2pm.
This performance will include classical music, colorful sets, elaborate costumes and beautiful dancing from talented ballet dancers in the local Chico area. This showcase of the Nutcracker will be the perfect family outing to kick-off this years holiday season.
For those who wish to get to know the cast better and meet them in person, there will be an autograph party immediately following the 2pm. Saturday matinee performance on Dec. 13. This is your chance to get the performers autograph and pictures with them in costume.

Glorious Sounds of the Season Scholarship Fundraiser Presented Dec. 12-14
Glorious Sounds of the Season, the Department of Music’s annual scholarship fundraiser featuring CSU, Chico music ensembles, student groups, and faculty musicians, will be presented Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2pm in Harlen Adams Theatre.
Don’t miss this Chico holiday tradition with holiday favorites presented in a kaleidoscopic fashion throughout the hall. Ensembles include the 200-voice Choral Union, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Early Music Ensemble, several chamber ensembles, and the University Organ, as well as the Children’s Choir of Chico.
Glorious Sounds of the Season is a sell-out event, so get your tickets early and support student scholarships. Tickets are available at the University Box Office, x6333.
