Summer Work-Study Information and Application Available Now
Students who plan to earn work-study funds during Summer 2009: A Summer Work-Study information page and application are now available on the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office Web site, and may be downloaded from our Printable Forms. Students must be approved for Summer Work-Study prior to being paid from a work-study account. The application includes a section to be completed and signed by your Work-Study employer.

University Awards Reception, April 22
Vice President for Student Affairs Drew Calandrella, the Student Activities Office, and the Associated Students invite the campus community to the 20th Annual University Awards Reception on Wed., April 22, 2009 from 3pm - 5pm in the BMU Auditorium. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
This event honors student achievements in academics, leadership, athletic excellence and community service. The following awards will be presented:

Description: Going Green
The new buzzword is sustainability. As more people try to account for their carbon footprint, where do you stand on the green path? Beyond preserving the planet, green simply brings one back to summer days, lush forests, new growth and verdant landscapes. Show the judges your vision of going green - whether it be bicycles, solar panels, or the backyard garden.
The $500 Valene Smith Award for Excellence in Visual Anthropology will be given to the Best in Show. Three honorable mentions will be recognized.
Fees: $25 for every 3 images submitted
(up to 9 from each entrant will be accepted)
CD Submissions: Clearly label the CD with your name, address, telephone and email address. Images should be high quality JPEG (no more than 300 dpi in RGB or grayscale) and should be no longer than 600 pixels on the longest side. Files should numbered and named: 01_Smith_TITLE.jpeg. Each image should have a sixty word statement explaining the significance of the work to the theme.

CSU, Chico Warehouse Live Auction, May 19
The Office of Property Management at California State University, Chico, would like to invite you to our surplus property auction. Items include floor lamps, sofas, lounge chairs, lockers, desks, filing cabinets, bookshelves, chairs, tables, and much much more.
These items are cash only and payable at the time of purchase. Viewing hours are 11am to 12noon. The auction will begin promptly at 12:10pm on Tues., May 19, 2009, located at the Warehouse, 810 Oak Street, Suite 100, Chico. Be early as the auction moves fast.
At the time of purchase, you must provide a vehicle to take all items selected by 3pm. Items will not be held for later removal.

Psi Chi General Meeting, April 8
Psi Chi would like to thank Dr.Martin van den Berg From the Psychology Department for his intriguing lecture on ‘Synesthesia’, we certainly all came away from his discussion with a greater insight to this interesting topic.
Psi Chi will be holding their General Meeting on Wed., April 8 at 7pm in Modoc, Rm. 220.

Panetta Congressional Internship Applications Due TODAY
Applications are now being accepted for the fall 2009 Panetta Institute Congressional Internship. This is the best internship opportunity on the Hill. Each CSU campus sends one outstanding student leader to intern in Washington, D.C. with a member of the House of Representatives from California. All program costs are paid by the Panetta Institute.

Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) is now accepting applications for Coordinator and Group Leader positions. CAVE is a non-profit student-ran volunteer organization. Our staff members are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. Being part of the CAVE staff is a valuable leadership opportunity and can help students develop skills in programming, organization, time management, communication, and much more. Staff members receive college units and their position can often fulfill internship requirements for a variety of majors.

Join E-ACR for the film “Addicted to Plastic” (85 minutes), which reveals the history and worldwide scope of plastics pollution, investigates its toxicity and explores solutions. Addicted To Plastic is a point-of-view style documentary that encompasses three years of filming in 12 countries on 5 continents, including two trips to the middle of the Pacific Ocean where plastic debris accumulates. This is an interactive tour of the waste stream on the CSU, Chico campus. Participants will be given the opportunity to see for themselves what goes into waste receptacles on campus and learn the appropriate place for potentially misplaced resources. Summer Registration Is Open
Students can now register for summer term. The summer class schedule is available, and can be searched by class or by session dates. Many new summer courses are now offered online, to allow greater flexibility.
The fee structure in effect this year reflects part-time (0 - 6 units) and full-time (6+ units). Because of reduced summer campus fees, you can save $472 over the cost of a regular semester. The summer fee schedule is available on-line through Student Financial Services. The summer fee payment deadline is May 21, 2009. Some financial aid (including work-study) is available for students who qualify and have registered for summer courses.

Join the Fundraising walk for Multiple Sclerosis this Saturday
The CSU, Chico Student Health Center and the Greek community will be hosting a walk to raise funds for multiple sclerosis research on Sat., April 11. Student Health Center, the Greek community and its sponsors invite students and local community members to participate in the walk.
The “Walk It Out for Multiple Sclerosis” fundraising event will start at the CSU, Chico Recreation Fields and will end in downtown at the City Plaza. Registration for the walk will begin at 9am at the CSU, Chico Recreation Fields. The walk will begin at 10am and will be followed by a multiple sclerosis informational fair.
If participants choose to register prior to the event the cost is $12 for community members and $10 for students with an identification card. On the day of the event, the fee will increase to $15.
